Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Colorectal Surgeon to join our General Surgery team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the provision of colorectal cancer surgery and participate in the colorectal multidisciplinary meeting.
  • Take part in the emergency on-call rota for general surgery admissions and provide elective sessions in outpatients, theatres, and endoscopy.

Opportunities for Development

  • Develop sub-specialty colorectal interests such as pelvic floor services, inflammatory bowel disease surgery, or pursue an academic pathway linking with the University of Kent.
  • Engage with future undergraduate and postgraduate training, including teaching and mentoring.

Key Requirements

  • MB BS (or equivalent) degree and registration with the GMC.
  • Possession of CCT and evidence of organisational ability.
  • An understanding of general principles, scientific method, and interpretation of literature.

Working Arrangements

  • Work in close cooperation with other medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare to the Trust's patients.
  • Contribute to future thinking about the Trust's strategic direction.
