Job Description Summary

Dowty Propellers is a world-leading supplier of aircraft propeller systems, providing innovative solutions for the propulsion needs of today and tomorrow. Our expertise spans the development, design, manufacture, certification, and support of electrohydraulic controlled variable pitch all-composite bladed propeller systems.

Our products are used in a wide range of applications, from commercial regional aircraft and military airlifters to multi-role seaplanes and marine hovercraft. With a proven track record of product development, introduction, and support, Dowty Propellers invests in technologies, production capabilities, and human resources to deliver propeller systems that are safe, efficient, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and control assigned engineering projects, including risk and opportunity management.
  • Act as the technical project point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Control technical requirements from customers, Dowty, and regulatory authorities.
  • Develop robust project scope definitions, estimates of work, plans, and schedules to deliver project commitments within financial and contractual constraints.
  • Support bid and proposal estimates using work breakdown structure methodologies to estimate labor and material requirements.
  • Obtain budget approval, kick-off authorization, and lead Baseline Change Requests as required to support project activities.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate project requirements, providing mentoring to assigned personnel to aid project execution.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, systems, engineering, or aerospace engineering, or equivalent qualification.
  • Solid project management experience in an aerospace or similarly regulated environment, ideally in a sustaining support role.
Desired Skills & Characteristics
  • Knowledge of the aviation regulatory environment, including civil certification requirements, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedule commitments.
  • Demonstrated competency in using standard Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools like MS Project.
  • Technical background in complex systems, including mechanical, aircraft control, and/or electronic control systems, and a working knowledge of hydromechanical control systems.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a working knowledge of lean or six sigma.
