About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and professional Care & Support Assistant to work in both residential care homes and the community based in and around Swindon. As a Care & Support Assistant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality person-centered care and support services to our service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing high-quality person-centered care and support services in line with the service users' and organisational needs.
  • Contributing to the assessment of the service users' needs, providing input into the creation, development, and review of care plans under supervision, involving other service providers as required, and ensuring the involvement of the service user in planning and evaluating their own care.
  • Delivering care and support for service users as required to ensure their personal hygiene, dietary needs, and medication needs are met while ensuring their privacy, dignity, and independence are maintained and positively respected at all times and in accordance with agreed care plans.
  • Assisting and encouraging service users to access and maintain a level of integration into the wider community by supporting regular social and leisure activities and opportunities.
  • Providing support as identified within the care plan to manage complex needs, challenging behavior, and degenerative conditions.
  • Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery, through accurate and timely reporting.
  • Providing advocacy to support service users and their families when required, to maximize their independence and personal potential.
  • Promoting self-practices and undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks and business protocols, escalating issues as appropriate, and following safeguarding procedures.
Shifts and Benefits
  • Shifts available: weekdays, weekends, long days, earlies, and lates, and sleep-ins.

Requirements
  • Essential:
    • Literacy and Numeracy equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C English and Maths.
    • HVQ2 in Health & Social Care, or willing to work towards.
    • Minimum 1 year's paid UK experience as a Care & Support Assistant.
    • Enhanced DBS.
    • Basic Life Support Certificate.
    • Manual Handling Certificate.
    • Full Right To Work in the UK.
    • 2 references (must cover past 3 years).
  • Desirable:
    • Full, current driving license (may be essential in some locations).
