Job Title: School Crossing Patrol Officer

Essex County Council is seeking a reliable and approachable individual to join our School Crossing Patrol Team as a School Crossing Patrol Officer at Ingrave Johnstone CE Primary School.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a punctual and reliable individual who is approachable and enjoys engaging with the public. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety of pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations.
  • Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
  • Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site and report any problems or defects to the supervisor.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
  • Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and replacements requested when needed.
  • Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensuring that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be punctual and reliable, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently. They will also have a strong commitment to ensuring the safety of pedestrians and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
