Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing targeted support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), contributing to their academic and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Work closely with teachers and SENCO to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of students with SEN.
  • Provide Support: Offer one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, adapting learning materials to suit their individual requirements.
  • Behavior Management: Assist with the implementation of behavior management plans, promoting positive relationships with students and fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the wider school team to create an inclusive learning environment, promoting diversity and inclusivity within the school community.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience as an SEN Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role is advantageous.
  • Understanding: Understanding of various SEN conditions and strategies to support individual needs or willingness to learn.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience and Empathy: Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with SEN.
  • Commitment: A commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the school community.
