Transport Operations Manager

At Berry Recruitment, we are seeking a highly skilled Transport Planner to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing a commercially focused collection service of domestic, recycling and trade waste, maximising all opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the running of the CWR account of a commercially focused transport operation, working closely with Customer Services to deliver efficient service, minimise rolled jobs and maximise service delivery.
- Coordinate the day-to-day allocation of drivers, vehicles and work requirements, continually monitoring and achieving maximum efficiency and providing the most effective services.
- Coordinate the re-allocation and cover of work as a result of driver absences and all day-to-day re-allocation of driver staffing requirements.
- Ensure any absences or gaps in staffing are covered for CWR in the most commercial and effective manner.
- Monitor and review the productivity of all aspects of collection services, identifying, planning and implementing changes as and when necessary to achieve maximum efficiency, effectiveness and economic performance, with a high standard of customer care.
- Provide a high level of customer service at all times to external and internal customers.
- Manage seasonal re-routes for the RCV rounds, ensuring they are as efficient as possible and taking into account work won not yet started.
- Work closely with the sales team on ensuring new customers are booked on and scheduled correctly.
- Calculate profit/loss by RCV route regularly, reporting into the Transport Manager and Commercial Manager and developing a plan to make improvements.
- Review profit/loss by customer job to identify pricing issues with customers, where required reviewing specific customer accounts to ensure overall profitability.
- Ensure that events are routed into the rounds and deliveries and collections are booked on in a timely manner.
- Lead on all current and new 'event' opportunities within the Coastal Recycling remit and ensure revenue and profit margins are maintained/enhanced.
- Ensure ordering and delivery of wheelie bins is conducted in a timely and business critical manner, monitoring ongoing bin stock levels to enable swift deployment to new customers.
- Report regularly on job failures and develop a plan to reduce them as much as possible.
- Train other team members to cover your role during absence.
