Main Responsibilities

The Area Mobile Technician will be the primary point of contact for in-depth engineering fault finding and repairs on specific vehicle types. This role will also assist sites when they are working with a reduced headcount, and assist sites with long-term/heavy work to reduce reliance on external contractors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out diagnostic tests on a wide range of company vehicles and equipment, advising the Engineering Manager on technical issues within the garage, and drafting reports on the performance and failure of engines, gearboxes, axles, electrics for the Engineering Director.

This role will also involve carrying out projects/trials on behalf of the Engineering Director, developing and fostering good working relationships with engineers and other grades, and developing and maintaining effective communication and relationships with chassis and body manufacturers, DVSA.

Essential Criteria
  • Minimum qualification of NVQ3 standard, with a view to being trained to level 4
  • Comprehensive understanding of engines, diagnostic equipment, and its applications
  • In-depth technical knowledge of major components fitted to Company fleet
  • Full understanding/appreciation of the terms and condition of the Company Operating Licence
  • Willingness to adapt and update skills and attend training courses

Hours of Work

The Master Technician will be required to work a range of shifts in line with the particular needs of the garages. The working week runs from Sunday to Saturday and comprises of 39 hours, rest days will be rostered each week. Rosters may include some weekend and bank holiday work where required.
