Position Overview

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and quality-driven Surgical Care Specialist to enhance our team in women's surgical units. Our aim is to deliver exceptional surgical services and interventions that prioritize patient well-being.

In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse multidisciplinary team, actively engaging in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. You will participate as a vital member of our surgical teams, undertaking circulating scrub and/or anaesthetic responsibilities, with opportunities for further training and experience in these areas as your qualifications allow. A commitment to high standards of patient care, along with a focus on financial considerations, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Care Specialist, you will work closely with the Anaesthetist or Surgeon, depending on your qualifications and experience, to deliver outstanding, patient-focused anaesthetic or surgical care. You will adhere to the 'Codes of Professional Conduct' (NMC and HCPC) and ensure that your practices consistently meet the required professional standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing the necessary surgical instruments and materials to the surgeon, ensuring accountability for all surgical instruments, equipment, and swabs throughout the procedure.
  • Acting as a liaison between the surgical team and other departments within the theatre and hospital, anticipating the needs of the surgical team and responding effectively to ensure that all required instruments and equipment are available when needed.
  • As a registered practitioner, you will serve as a responsible and compassionate advocate for patients, always acting in their best interests.
