Process Safety Engineer

TMM Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our client's team in Altens, Aberdeen. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of our offshore drilling facilities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Maintain Safety Cases: You will be responsible for developing and maintaining vessel safety cases and supporting formal safety assessment studies.
  • Bow-Tie Diagrams: You will develop and maintain bow-tie diagrams for major accident hazards associated with vessel operations.
  • SECE's and Performance Standards: You will assist technical authorities in the identification of safety and environmentally critical elements (SECE's) and develop associated performance standards and assurance activities.
  • Real-Time Monitoring: You will maintain and continue to improve real-time digital barrier and process safety performance monitoring solution (Presight).
  • Operational Risk Assessments: You will review operational risk assessments for temporarily degraded plant, processing, and people barriers.
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments: You will facilitate hazard identification and risk assessments carried out in support of the management of change process.
  • Emergency Response Plans: You will assist in the development of emergency response plans for the major accident hazards identified in the safety case.
  • Process Safety Training: You will develop process safety training material for the offshore workforce.
  • Regulatory Compliance: You will coordinate inspections carried out by the Competent Authority (OMAR/OPRED) and ensure that any findings are logged, followed up, and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Document Control: You will control documents and correspondence sent to regulatory bodies ensuring statutory documentation is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Industry Standards: You will review relevant industry standards against asset integrity procedures and identify any upgrades or policy impacts.
  • Client Liaison: You will liaise with clients in order to resolve any process safety related issues identified during the rig acceptance process, and in operation.
  • Human Factors: You will support the integration of human factors into the management system.
  • Consultancy Relationships: You will manage external consultancy relationships where expert guidance is required.

Suitable applicants should ideally have:

  • Experience in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.
  • Bachelor or Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Sound knowledge of offshore safety legislation, guidance, and associated industry standards.
  • Knowledge of offshore drilling operations and associated equipment.
