About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Estimator/ Cost Consultant to join our team at Gregory Martin International. As a key member of our consultancy, you will be responsible for providing cost estimates and engineering support to help our clients make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical consulting projects, providing cost estimates and engineering support to clients.
  • Assist in identifying and winning new business opportunities for our consultancy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Develop and apply problem structuring methods and tools, including novel approaches, to support cost estimation and engineering projects.
  • Support project teams in reviewing plans and proposals, ensuring value for money and delivery of plans.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to deliver rapid turn-around analysis and cost estimates.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Investment Appraisals, Trade Studies, Business Cases, and Cost Benefit Analysis to support stage gate approvals.
  • Good knowledge of statistics in support of parametric modelling, sampling, and risk assessment.
  • Independent Cost Estimating experience, including methods of estimating, such as detailed, comparative, and parametric techniques.
  • Understanding and developing cost estimates that take account of development, manufacture, and support environments, allowances, overheads, profit, Government Furnished Assets & Resources, historical costs, and Estimating Maturity Assessment levels.
  • Cost Model Development experience, including the development of robust cost models that satisfy independent Verification & Validation scrutiny.
  • Cost / Schedule Risk Analysis experience, including knowledge of quantitative assessment of uncertainty, cost, and schedule risk assessment.
  • Independent Verification and Validation audit experience against 3rd party supplied cost models.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management, including the techniques and formulas used to create EV outputs.
  • Logical and analytical thinking skills to solve complex problems for clients.
  • Ability to work in a client's team to influence strategic decision-makers while delivering practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, such as ICEAA or ACostE, and a desire for further professional development.
  • Dependability, commitment, and a genuine enthusiasm to contribute to the growth of our consultancy.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of and application of Visual Basic.
  • Experience as a cost engineering consultant in a defence or public sector project environment.
  • Application of Risk tools, such as @Risk.
Other Requirements
  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with our company.
