Join our dynamic and skilled team in a bustling Outpatient Department specializing in Haematology and Oncology.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 5 Nurse to become part of our innovative and award-winning team of 23 professionals, which includes a Sister, two Band 6 Senior Nurses, Band 5 Nurses, Band 3 Support Workers, and a Housekeeper.

Your role will involve assisting patients in the outpatient setting at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC). You will have the opportunity to enhance your expertise in this fast-paced environment, managing your own nurse-led lists. We provide all necessary training to help you achieve competencies in areas such as Venepuncture, PICC line dressings, and Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) injections. You will gain insights into our patients' journeys through the department, collaborating with Doctors, Cancer Nurse Specialists, Advanced Healthcare Practitioners, Trials Nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities

As a member of our esteemed hospital and department, you will work alongside Doctors, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Allied Health Professionals, and other staff.

Participation in monthly team meetings will foster a collaborative and cohesive environment within our team.

A Band 5 Nurse will be expected to perform a variety of tasks under the guidance of the Nurse in Charge and will be responsible for reporting on those delegated tasks. You will play a significant role in mentoring and teaching students, apprentices, and newer staff members.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration
  • Broad knowledge and experience in clinical nursing practice within an acute hospital setting
  • Interest in the clinical area
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring

Desirable:

  • Training qualification or equivalent experience
  • Relevant post-registration course
  • Experience in a leadership role
