Job Description

Our client, a leading player in the technology and retail sector, is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Strategist to join their dynamic team in Southampton. This pivotal role is crucial in ensuring all IT implementations are secure and monitored, particularly in the face of increasing cyber security threats.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Maintain a Comprehensive Security Strategy: Align security data and tooling with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and Integrate Security Tools: Enhance the organization's overall security posture by evaluating and integrating appropriate security tools and technologies.
  • Own and Manage Security Standards: Ensure adherence to group technical security standards and principles across all IT activities.
  • Develop Security Roadmaps: Stay abreast of industry trends and develop security roadmaps to ensure the organization remains secure.
  • Identify and Mitigate Security Risks: Identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities within systems and applications, and implement mitigation controls.
  • Manage Security Partnerships: Manage relationships with key security partners and technology providers, including Cyber Insurance.
  • Support Network and Infrastructure Teams: Collaborate with Network and Infrastructure teams to design effective security measures, such as firewalls, encryption protocols, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Design Security Safeguards: Design security safeguards for the organization's platforms.
  • Act as Security Technology Design Authority: Approve security technology designs at relevant Architectural Governance Boards.
  • Facilitate Audit Processes: Ensure compliance with required standards by facilitating audit processes.
  • Mentor Cybersecurity Analysts: Mentor analysts and other members of the overarching cybersecurity function.
Requirements:
  • Proven Professional Experience: Proven experience in IT/cybersecurity.
  • Cybersecurity Knowledge: Good knowledge of the cybersecurity industry, products, and service trends.
  • Technical Background: Extensive knowledge of current cybersecurity threat types and mitigation controls, as well as a strong technical background in areas like Microsoft, Unix, Oracle, SAP, Cloud, Digital, and Networks.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical security issues in a non-technical manner.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of the business relevance of security risks.
  • Personal Qualities: Proactive approach, confidence to drive discussions and decision-making, ability to manage competing demands, and work under pressure.
  • Language Skills: English required; French, Polish, and other languages are an advantage.
