CalMac Ferries Limited is seeking a dedicated and skilled Dual Purpose Marine Operator to contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of our vessels.

As a Dual Purpose Marine Operator, you will play a vital role in supporting both deck and engine room departments. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, ensuring the safe and effective functioning of our maritime operations.

  • Mooring and Deck Operations: Assist with mooring procedures, operate deck machinery, and oversee vehicle deck activities.
    • Engine Room Support: Contribute to the maintenance of engine room and auxiliary machinery spaces.
    • Maintenance and Repair: Participate in planned maintenance routines and assist with repair work as needed.
    • Safety and Compliance: Conduct bridge watch duties, perform vehicle deck checks, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

To excel in this role, you will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • STCW II/5 Certificate of Competency as an Able Seafarer Deck
  • Engine Room Watch Rating Certificate
  • Valid ENG 1 medical certificate
  • ISPS Designated Security Duties Certificate
  • Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats Certificate
  • Crowd Management Certificate
  • Passenger & Cargo Safety Training Certificate

Desirable Skills:

While the essential qualifications are paramount, the following skills and attributes would be highly advantageous:

  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
  • Prior experience in a higher-grade maritime role
  • A strong safety focus with knowledge of CoSWP and risk assessment principles
  • A customer-centric approach with proactive customer care practices
