Requirements:
  • Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating materials
  • Physical stamina for working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
Qualifications:

Bricklaying is available as a study programme, part-time and apprenticeship course. Good GCSEs are recommended for measurements and calculations. At Leeds College of Building entry is via a basic skills test.

Salary:

A newly trained bricklayer's construction salary can be in the region of £17,000 - £20,000. Trained with experience bricklayers can earn in the region of £20,000 - £30,000. Senior or master bricklayers can earn in the region of £30,000 - £40,000.
