Funding Manager Genetics and Molecular Sciences

We are seeking a highly skilled Funding Manager to join our Genetics and Molecular Sciences team in Research Funding. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient management of grant applications, expert review, and award of grants for all areas of Discovery Research activity supported by Wellcome.
Key Responsibilities- Grant Application Management: Deliver the processing, due diligence, expert review, feedback, and award of grant applications within established deadlines and according to defined standards and controls.
- Expert Advice and Guidance: Provide expert advice and guidance on grant applications and awards to existing and potential grant holders.
- Grant Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of grants throughout the grant lifecycle.
- Expert Review Process: Manage the expert review process.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with grant holders and university research offices to ensure the smooth and effective management of awarded grants by contributing to funding committee operations, including management of scoring and budget spreadsheets, taking minutes, as appropriate.
- Culture and Inclusion: Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.
- Education: Educated to at least degree level in a relevant biomedical subject.
- Experience: Experience of the academic research environment.
- Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage large workloads and work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining the highest standards.
- Relationship Building: Able to quickly build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
