Key Responsibilities:

As a Lead Quantity Surveyor, you will engage with the Kier Highways team, overseeing contracts throughout North & West Northamptonshire. Your expertise will be essential in managing the financial and commercial aspects of our highway projects, ensuring effective cost control, contract oversight, and risk management.

Your daily tasks will include:

  • Cost Management: Develop, monitor, and regulate budgets for highway projects. Execute detailed cost forecasting and reporting. Ensure project expenditures remain within budgetary constraints.
  • Contract Management: Draft and assess contract documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, and drawings. Supervise subcontractor agreements and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate monthly financial reports and statements. Conduct regular financial assessments and updates. Offer financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Risk Management: Identify and evaluate potential project risks. Formulate and implement strategies for risk mitigation. Maintain an updated risk register.
  • Procurement: Spearhead the procurement process for materials and subcontractors. Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers. Ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of resources.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • A solid history in cost management, contract administration, and risk assessment.
  • In-depth understanding of construction contracts, laws, and regulations is essential.
