Key Responsibilities:
You will assist and collaborate with all theatre personnel and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and efficient care for all patients during their theatre and recovery experience. Your duties will encompass patient movement, sanitation, and theatre support tasks as per departmental protocols. Flexibility in working as part of a team and adherence to the Trust's standards and legal requirements are essential. You will be part of a 24-hour unit, which may include weekend and night shifts as necessary.
What Does a Theatre Care Assistant Do?
This entry-level position in the theatre environment provides crucial support to the surgical team by caring for patients throughout their surgical experience. You will assist colleagues with essential tasks that facilitate the smooth operation of the theatre, ensuring that each team member can perform their duties effectively.
As a reassuring presence, you will help alleviate patients' anxiety, making them feel calm, comfortable, and prepared for their surgical procedures.
Working collaboratively with your team, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in patient transfers
- Providing reassurance to family members
- Preparing patients for anaesthesia
- Organizing instruments and equipment for surgical procedures
- Ensuring the department is stocked with necessary supplies
- Maintaining cleanliness and order in theatre areas post-surgery
You will be part of a supportive team that includes theatre nurses, anaesthetists, surgeons, operating department practitioners, and administrative staff.
Training and Development
Comprehensive training will be provided. While prior experience is not required, a good command of English and Maths is essential. You should possess the ability to remain calm and reassuring, follow instructions and procedures, stay organized, communicate effectively, and enjoy teamwork while also being accountable for your responsibilities. We will equip you with the necessary skills.
