About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Controls Engineer to join our team at Xtrac Ltd. As a key member of our Controls Software Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software for our transmission systems.

Your primary focus will be on developing software that meets the requirements of our Senior Software Engineer and ensures the smooth operation of our transmission systems. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to deliver project software and calibration requirements, and collaborate with colleagues to learn from their expertise and develop your own skills.

About You

  • You will have a strong background in software development, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in an automotive engineering environment.
  • You will possess excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel, and coding skills in at least one of the following languages: C++, ESDL, Python.
  • You will have a good understanding of transmission systems, including AMT, DCT, Planetary Auto, CVT, and Single Speed Reducers.
  • You will be a strong communicator, able to effectively communicate technical ideas to staff members and customers.
  • You will be organized and have a structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.

Education, Qualifications and Training

We require a minimum of a BEng or BSc (or similar) degree in mechanical, mechatronic, electrical, electronic, or control system engineering, and incorporated or chartered engineer status or active pursuit of this status.

Knowledge

You will have a good understanding of electronic designs, microprocessors, peripherals, and companion chips, and experience with tools such as Matlab/Simulink, ASCET, and INCA.
