Department Description
This role sits within the Risk Management function, reporting to the Business Risk & Control Manager. The team is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the organization.
Role Description
The Risk Management Specialist will support the Business Risk & Control Manager in all aspects of operational risk and control management, including conduct and non-conduct related risk. Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating the identification of risks throughout the organization, developing and reporting on risk management issues, and creating methodologies for risk assessment.
- Performing analyses, identifying trends, and creating reporting for internal and external use, including for the Bank's Risk Management Committee.
- Supporting risk and control projects and initiatives to drive improvements to key processes and controls.
- Partnering with risk and control owners to identify, assess, monitor, measure, and report on various key risk indicators.
- Conducting risk evaluations of third-party service providers and ensuring appropriate due diligence is performed to identify, mitigate, and maintain ongoing awareness of risks to the Bank resulting from third-party relationships.
- Supporting business areas with day-to-day risk and compliance questions regarding business processes.
- Identifying areas of the business that require or would benefit from improved business processes and controls, and assisting with development and implementation of such process and control enhancements.
- Partnering with business areas to evaluate process or control breakdowns, including root cause analysis.
- Supporting the coordination and facilitation of the Bank's Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and administration of the Bank's annual RCSA refresh.
Principal Accountabilities
- Providing hands-on risk support across the Bank from a First Line Controls perspective.
- Supporting the ongoing active management of risk and embedding of the Risk Management Framework.
- Supporting Business Risk & Control Manager(s).
- Supporting the ongoing monitoring and reporting of risk through relevant governance.
- Delivering accurate risk and control performance analysis, through the use of the Bank's strategic risk management solutions.
- Collating risk performance data for Bank Governance committees.
- Helping to promote a risk-focused culture across the Bank, embodying Allica's values.
Personal Attributes & Experience
- A good understanding of risk management principles and practices, including RCSAs, controls, and risk libraries.
- Knowledge of relevant non-financial risk regulatory requirements, such as Operational Resilience and Outsourcing.
- Hands-on experience of assurance and monitoring of risks and controls across non-financial risk disciplines.
- A willingness to be hands-on and adapt quickly to the workflow in support of the Risk Management team, with a focus on delivering results and meeting deadlines.
- A good understanding of risk management principles and practices, including RCSAs, controls, and risk libraries.
