Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior FPGA Design Engineer to join our team in EPD. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing high-speed digital logic circuits for FPGAs, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver precision measurement products that meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-speed digital logic circuits for FPGAs, ensuring optimal performance, quality, and cost.
- Collaborate with project managers and product managers to define product specifications and deliver designs that meet those specifications.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to optimize the interaction between electronic, mechanical, and software components in all designs.
- Deliver designs that meet targets for product performance, quality, cost, and timescale, considering design for assembly and test.
- Understand and comply with the company's new product introduction process, working with cross-functional teams to optimize the release of new designs to production.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously, allocating time appropriately to meet deadlines for delivery.
- Keep abreast of current technology and develop innovative processes and design solutions that can be patented by the company.
Requirements
- Degree in electronic engineering, physics, or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of VHDL, including recent experience with Intel (Altera) FPGAs.
- Demonstrable expertise in electronic design, including high-speed, low-power circuits, and electromagnetic compatibility.
- Demonstrable skills and experience with Altium, CR5000, or other ECAD system tools.
- Practical understanding of microcontrollers, embedded software, and signal processing techniques.
Desirable Requirements
- Knowledge of C, C++, assembly language, or other embedded software languages.
- Experience of LT SPICE, Matlab, Simulink, VUnit, Python, Aldec ActiveHDL, and Intel (Altera) Quartus.
- Knowledge and experience of safety and reliability standards, including IEC61508.

The successful applicant will have an excellent understanding of electronic fundamentals, an enquiring mind, and be open to discussing new developments. They will provide support to other staff and be enthusiastic and knowledgeable in developing new products for this exciting area.
