Humankind Charity, in collaboration with Project 6, is excited to launch Likewise, a comprehensive alcohol and drug support service dedicated to assisting adults throughout Sheffield. At Likewise, we offer guidance, resources, and expert assistance to empower individuals in making informed choices regarding their substance use. Our aim is to improve safety and foster recovery through a wide array of services, provided by skilled local professionals, ensuring that everyone receives the necessary support, regardless of the complexity of their situation.

Likewise is funded by Sheffield City Council and is committed to fostering a secure and nurturing environment where individuals can cultivate vital life skills, rebuild their self-esteem, and attain sustainable recovery. We are dedicated to helping our clients reintegrate into society as active and contributing members.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Recovery Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in guiding individuals on their recovery journey, providing personalized assistance, and coordinating services to enhance their well-being. If you are driven by a desire to positively impact lives, this role is for you.
  • Oversee a caseload, developing, executing, and assessing ongoing recovery and treatment strategies.
  • Encourage and facilitate individuals' progress from initial contact through structured treatment to independent recovery.
  • Mitigate substance-related harm to individuals and the broader community.
  • Collaborate with key partners and colleagues to achieve optimal health and well-being outcomes for individuals.


Candidate Profile:

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, whether you have a strong foundation in substance misuse, experience in mental health support, a background in the criminal justice system, or a relevant academic qualification. We believe that varied experiences enrich our comprehensive support and care mission. We are particularly interested in candidates with one or more of the following qualifications:
  • Experience in substance misuse
  • Background in mental health
  • Criminal justice experience
  • Relevant academic qualifications such as Criminology, Psychology, Law, or Sociology
  • A strong history of volunteering in a similar capacity
  • Experience in case management and the ability to manage expectations in this emotionally demanding role.
