Job Description

Job Title: Senior Traffic Dispatcher

Location: Biffa Depot

Hours: 8.30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday

Job Summary:

The Senior Traffic Dispatcher will effectively manage the day-to-day organisation of operations of the Depot through the allocation and basic routing of vehicles to ensure best-in-class service delivery to customers, ensuring health & safety standards are maintained, and ensuring environmental and O licence compliance. Supporting employee engagement, continuous improvement in productivity and quality of service provision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day activities of operational staff to achieve best-in-class service delivery.
  • Route Efficiency: Manage route efficiency and utilise optimum disposal outlets within the area to ensure effective use of vehicles and facilities.
  • Driver Availability: Manage driver availability and coverage in line with legislation and company procedures to ensure suitable coverage at all times.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform administrative duties including input of pay and bonus onto the company systems, accurate input of disposal information, and proactive vehicle management.
  • Vehicle Management: Supervise vehicle availability on a daily basis, ensuring drivers have completed their checks in accordance with company policy.
  • Cost Control: Contribute towards ongoing cost control, actively seeking to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Administrative Tasks: Ensure all administrative tasks associated with the Dispatch office are completed, including time sheets, tachograph records, payroll records, holiday rotas, and resolution of QLS.
  • Training and Development: In conjunction with the Depot Manager, ensure that mandatory training, induction, and toolbox talks are delivered in line with company policy.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience of a position of similar responsibility in services or logistics industry.
  • Certifications: National CPC is ideal.
  • Geographical Knowledge: Local geographical knowledge.
  • Operational Management: Experience of first-line operational management.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision, and play well with others.
  • Personal Qualities: Articulate, confident, and assertive.
