Role of a Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products meet the specified requirements, standards, and materials as established with the client.

Additionally, the Inspector will collaborate with various departments to guarantee that the products manufactured by
AVIC Cabin Systems (UK) Limited comply with the relevant design specifications and standards, while also ensuring that conforming products are released with the appropriate documentation and information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Approve products based on technical drawings and accompanying documentation from clients.
  • Provide guidance and support across the organization regarding product compliance.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to optimize inspection resources.
  • Document non-conforming products in detail to assist Quality Assurance Engineers.
  • Conduct internal audits within various departments.
  • Understand the First Article Inspection (FAI) process in accordance with AS9102.
This list is not exhaustive, and the successful candidate will be expected to undertake various tasks as directed by their supervisor and in alignment with the organization's overall goals.Performance Metrics

  • First pass yield and parts inspected
  • Compliance with AS9100 and AS9102 standards
  • Achievement of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Knowledge, Education, and Skills

Knowledge:

  • Proficient in using measuring tools such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers for product inspection, testing, and measurement (Essential).
  • Strong ability to interpret technical engineering drawings (Essential).
  • Familiarity with First Article Inspection processes.
  • Experience working with client drawings and documentation to ensure accurate manufacturing and assembly.
  • Background in conducting internal departmental audits.
  • Experience in regulatory documentation practices.
  • Solid understanding of Quality procedures.
  • Knowledge of the FAI process in accordance with AS9102.
  • Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing quality systems is advantageous.
Education

  • Relevant experience in a Quality Control role.
Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with a broader team.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in the workplace.
