TPG Services is a leading manufacturer specializing in maritime environmental control systems and comprehensive lifecycle support services. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, fabricating, and assembling equipment to meet the highest quality standards, in compliance with company protocols, client specifications, and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform general mechanical assembly and manufacturing tasks.
- Execute detailed fitting and assembly operations.
- Work with small bore stainless steel piping.
- Report design discrepancies to the relevant personnel.
- Conduct degreasing processes, including cleaning for oxygen compatibility.
- Adhere to Health and Safety regulations at all times.
- Uphold professional standards within the workshop and production areas.

General Activities:

- Undertake any additional duties as required to support business operations.
- Provide professional assistance to colleagues during peak workloads or absences.
- Follow established company procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in continuous professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge.
- Represent the company positively in all interactions with clients and the public.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Essential:

- ONC/NVQ qualification in engineering.
- Completion of an apprenticeship in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Strong hands-on skills in small bore stainless steel piping and mechanical assembly.
- A pragmatic approach to tasks.
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and under pressure in a demanding environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing within a highly regulated sector.
- A strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently.

- Experience in a manufacturing and defense context.
- Background in shipbuilding or ship repair within the MOD or naval industry.
- Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Product Development (NPD).
- Experience with fittings such as Swagelok or Parker.
- Ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally.
- IOSH Working Safely certification.
- Knowledge of 5S and LEAN continuous improvement methodologies.
- Skills in TIG welding and brazing.

Travel Requirements:

- Occasional travel to other offices or sites may be necessary.

Other Requirements:

- Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK.
- Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be eligible to obtain this level. Typically, this requires residency in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
- Candidates must be able to obtain a basic security check, usually requiring at least 3 years of UK residency.
