We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified accountant to take on the role of Finance Manager.
The Finance Manager position at Nickel is initially an individual contributor role, requiring close collaboration with various internal departments such as compliance, trading, middle office, investor relations, and HR. This role offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious qualified accountant to lead financial operations, overseeing the comprehensive management of the Company's finance function.
Key responsibilities include the preparation and analysis of management accounts, financial and regulatory reporting, budgeting and forecasting, audit and control, cash management, as well as tax and payroll activities.
This dynamic role operates within the fast-paced environment of a growing hedge fund in the innovative sector of cryptocurrency, reporting directly to the management team. Nickel is rapidly expanding and launching new funds and products. The ideal candidate will adeptly manage a busy workload and make an immediate impact, possessing the ability to handle competing deadlines.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee daily financial operations for the organization.
- Develop comprehensive reporting, including performance reports and quarterly management accounts.
- Maintain robust accounting operations and processes, particularly control systems, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with external accountants and auditors to ensure timely completion of annual audited financial statements.
- Work closely with the COO to guarantee accurate and timely compliance reporting to regulatory bodies.
- Manage government reporting requirements and tax filings, coordinating with internal teams and service providers.
- Ensure timely submission of all statutory accounts and confirmation statements.
- Process payroll efficiently while ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Handle foreign exchange hedging and conversions, addressing ad-hoc requests as needed.
- Coordinate audits for investment funds and the investment manager.
- Collaborate with middle office and fund administrators to ensure accurate accounting treatment of financial performance.
- Prepare consolidated group accounts for stakeholders.
- Present financial forecasts to management.
- Stay informed on relevant accounting legislation changes to ensure compliance and best practices, particularly regarding digital assets.
Qualifications and Skills
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
- Graduate from a reputable university, preferably within the Russell Group or equivalent international standard.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, proficient in MS Office; knowledge of Xero is advantageous.
- Experience in an asset management finance team is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders across the organization.
- Commercially minded, adaptable, and entrepreneurial with a keen attention to detail.
- Open to embracing technological solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Solid understanding of tax, accounting principles, and regulations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary starting from £60k per annum, depending on experience.
