Nutrition and Dietetics Team - NELFT (North East London Foundation Trust)

Main Duties of the Job
  • Patient Support: To provide a service to patients identified at nutritional risk under the direction of the Registered Dietitians, including screening, nutritional assessment, review dietary plans, and monitoring within own competencies.
  • Nutrition Support & Weight Management: Using local guidelines, deliver first-line advice, including for oral nutrition support for community and nursing home residents across BHR and weight management under dietetic supervision within scope of practice.
  • Administrative Support: To take part and assist in the planning and administration relating to day-to-day running of the caseload.
  • In-Person and Virtual Care: Confidently deliver care both in-person and virtually, adapting to the evolving healthcare landscape.
Working for Our Organisation

Probationary Period: This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT: NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment.

High Cost Area Supplement – London: This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

Knowledge: We are looking for someone with a good working knowledge of nutrition screening tools and how to interpret these, as well as a good understanding of Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience: We are looking for someone with experience working as a dietetic or healthcare assistant, with a minimum of 2 years working in an NHS setting. You should also have experience working with adult and paediatric populations, as well as experience weighing, interpreting, and monitoring patients' weight changes.

Qualifications: We are looking for someone with an NVQ level 5 in Nutrition or equivalent level of proven experience. A Nutrition or Dietetic qualification is also desirable.

Skills: We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, including writing, data entry, and presentation skills. You should also be able to work autonomously and use your own initiative, as well as being able to organise and prioritise your own workload.

Other: We are committed to continuing professional development and expect all our staff to be committed to this as well. You should also be able to travel effectively throughout the Trust.
