Residential Youth Support Worker (Casual/Sessional)

Salary: £12.02 per hour
Specific Hours: Ad-hoc shift coverage
Location: St Albans

Polaris Community is looking for dedicated and motivated Residential Youth Support Workers to join our team on a casual basis, providing essential coverage for shifts as needed. This role offers the flexibility to choose your working hours without any contractual commitments.

Our mission is to create a positive and enduring impact on young individuals transitioning from care to independence. We offer housing and support to assist them in achieving their educational and personal goals.

As a Residential Youth Support Worker, your responsibilities will include delivering a tailored, high-quality service to young people residing in their own flats or shared accommodations.

The young individuals we support are often vulnerable, and it is your duty to ensure that the environment in which you work is safe, welcoming, and conducive to their well-being.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to person-centered risk assessments and support plans, collaborating with other support staff for effective handovers.
  • Monitor changes in behavior, documenting observations and reporting any shifts in the support needs of the young people.
  • Foster positive relationships with young individuals, colleagues, and external professionals through effective communication, actively seeking collaborative solutions to enhance their experiences.
  • Provide consistent support to young people, maintaining the same standards as day staff, with a focus on the safety of vulnerable individuals.
  • Perform necessary health and safety tasks, including cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Engage with external agencies such as law enforcement and emergency services when required.
  • Assist young people in accessing medical services or legal support when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in supporting vulnerable young individuals.
  • Availability for flexible working hours, including weekends.
  • Possession of a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce qualification, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or a willingness to pursue such qualifications.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle for travel purposes.
  • Proficient computer skills.
