Role Summary:
The successful candidates will be responsible for executing precise mechanical fitting and maintenance tasks within a rail production setting. Adherence to deadlines and targets is essential to meet customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area, promoting effective housekeeping practices.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by applying lean methodologies.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Foster a collaborative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
- Execute manual handling tasks safely and in accordance with training.
- Follow work instructions, route cards, and standard operating procedures meticulously.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of an apprenticeship in a mechanical field, with a City & Guilds Level 3 or BTEC Level 3 qualification.
- Experience in heavy engineering fitting, including sectors such as HGV, Bus, Rail, Aerospace, or automotive mechanics.
- Proficient in literacy and numeracy.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to understand and follow work instructions and procedures.
- Physical capability to maneuver under and over machinery and handle equipment.
- Versatile in performing a variety of tasks across the manufacturing process.
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliable attendance.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Basic knowledge of lean principles, particularly 5S.
- Strong teamwork ethic.
Working Hours:
Shifts are scheduled from 6 AM to 2 PM and 2 PM to 10 PM, Monday through Friday, with Friday shifts ending at noon.
Compensation:
The salary, including shift allowance, is £36,000, with opportunities for overtime.
