We are seeking a highly skilled Data Science Leader to join our team and help us power change. As a Data Science Leader, you will be responsible for leading the AI Centre of Excellence, focusing on delivering value from AI across SSE.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Implement AI Standards: Create and implement standards, frameworks, and ways of working for AI solutions in business environments, considering scalability, reliability, and security.
  2. AI Model Evaluation: Perform thorough testing and evaluation of AI models to ensure their performance meets the desired business objectives and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  3. AI System Monitoring: Continuously monitor the performance of deployed AI systems, supporting business unit delivery teams in making necessary improvements and updates.
  4. Stay Up-to-Date with AI Advancements: Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI technologies to identify their potential applications in the organization.
  5. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows.
Requirements
  1. Extensive AI Experience: Extensive experience designing and implementing AI solutions with a focus on machine learning techniques, deep learning, and preferably also including use of generative AI methods and models.
  2. Programming Languages and AI Frameworks: Proficiency in programming languages and popular AI/ML frameworks and models (ie: such as Apache Spark, Python, R, JavaScript, and C++, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Gemini, OpenAI, Llama, and BERT variants) - including adaptability and willingness to learn new AI technologies and techniques.
  3. Database and Data Engineering: Familiarity with database warehouse and data engineering concepts (ie: data pipelines, data lakehouse) and usage of AI services on cloud platforms (such as Azure, AWS, and GCP).
  4. Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, particularly in applying state of the art data science and AI to solve business problems.
