About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer - Power Electronics Specialist to join our team at Optamor. As a key member of our Vehicle Electrification Team, you will be responsible for the specification and integration of high voltage electronic components into our vehicle architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a development roadmap for Power Electronics Systems, focusing on features related to weight, efficiency, performance, and integration with charging infrastructure and associated systems.
  • Review and analyze product specifications to identify areas of optimization and improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify solutions, projects, and milestones that contribute to the success of our vehicle program.
  • Manage technical deliverables, project plans, and open issues decks for assigned systems to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Realize vehicle features using a combination of carry-over, modified, and new components in collaboration with Body, Chassis, and Powertrain function groups.
  • Ensure that power electronics are correctly located and packaged in accordance with vehicle requirements, complying with environmental and EMC regulations.
  • Specify and develop design features and functions in conjunction with technical partners and Tier 1 suppliers, supporting other function groups to ensure compliance with process-driven development methods.
  • Participate in system review, verification, and validation activities, including leading FMEAs, DVP planning, and ISO26262 compliance.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in HV Electronics or component delivery within an automotive engineering environment.
  • Demonstrable understanding of High Voltage Electrical architectures and underlying principles and technologies, including thermal management, lifetime operation, control strategies, and current capacity versus weight saving.
  • Experience of project engineering with Tier 1 suppliers, preparation of project documentation and reports, risk management, mitigation, and recovery planning.
  • Working knowledge of associated systems such as MGUs, Batteries, and Charging Systems.
  • Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma, or similar framework (FMEA, DVP, quality planning, PPAP, etc.) and full product lifecycle activities.
  • Ability to communicate the requirements of our vehicle program to a supplier and manage the cost/benefit/compromise when adapting and enhancing existing and new technologies.
  • Articulate, self-motivated, and able to work well on own initiative.
  • Possession of a Mechanical, Control Systems, Automotive, or similar honours engineering degree. Other recognized engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered.
  • Full driving license is essential.
