About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantitative Researcher to join our Portfolio Analytics team at Man Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering transformative actionable insights on our entire estate pipeline, from signal to fund level information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with and analysing vast amounts of data to identify trends and patterns
  • Developing analytics, KPIs, and metrics to measure portfolio performance
  • Conducting research on transforming data into intelligence to inform investment decisions
  • Writing code, extracting insights, and building reporting mechanisms to communicate findings
  • Rapidly building extensive knowledge of our AHL estate and leveraging this effectively to generate cross-functional insights and synergies

Requirements

  • Expertise in a high-level programming language, ideally Python
  • Exceptional analytical skills, recognised by peers as an expert in the domain
  • Deep understanding of statistics and ability to apply to real-world problems
  • Proficiency with NumPy/SciPy/Pandas or similar
  • Ability to handle large data sets and understand risk management techniques and portfolio risk modelling

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with analysing and managing complex risk
  • Portfolio management, systematic trading, or QIS experience
  • Linux, SQL/Oracle, KDB+
  • Experience with machine learning libraries such as sklearn

  • Strong academic record and degree with high mathematical, statistical, and computing content
  • Meticulous attention to detail and keen interest in Financial Markets
  • Hands-on attitude, willing to get involved with technology and projects across the firm
  • Intellectually robust with a keenly analytic approach to problem-solving and positive attitude
  • Self-organised with ability to effectively manage time across multiple projects and competing business demands and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to establish and maintain close working relationships with quantitative researchers, technologists, traders, and senior business people
  • Confident communicator, able to argue a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting views
