Job Title: Principal Building Control Inspector

MMP Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Building Control Inspector to join our team on behalf of a Local Authority based in Bedfordshire.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist advice on Building Regulation compliance to a variety of users, including residents, businesses, and local authorities. The role involves evaluating applications and fees, conducting site inspections, and investigating and enforcing compliance with Building Regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist advice on Building Regulation compliance to a variety of users.
  • Investigate compliance issues, address complaints, and enforce Building Regulations.
  • Validate applications, assess fees, and manage Building Regulation cases from planning through to implementation.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure regulatory compliance, with a focus on health, safety, sustainability, energy efficiency, and accessibility.
  • Handle complex cases involving Building Regulation compliance, offering guidance and support to less experienced colleagues.
  • Prioritise tasks within the team to ensure efficient service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in Building Control and Regulation compliance.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, sustainability, energy, and accessibility standards.
  • The ability to manage complex cases independently, while also supporting and guiding junior colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with a wide range of customers and stakeholders.
  • Regular manual handling activities.
  • Exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Class 2a minimum, ideally class 2f.
