Multi-Skilled Engineer - Operations & Maintenance

We are seeking a highly proficient and adaptable engineer with a robust electrical background, ready to contribute to a vibrant team within the food manufacturing industry. Your substantial experience in maintenance and engineering, along with your capability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical challenges, positions you as an exceptional candidate for this role.

  • Qualified Engineering Professional
  • Proficient in Interpreting Electrical and Mechanical Schematics
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • Experience in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)
  • Trained in Health and Safety / Basic Food Hygiene
  • Able to work on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including days and nights
  • Capable of managing all machinery on-site, including manual handling and working in varying environmental conditions, such as freezers or boiler rooms

Equipment & General Site Maintenance:

• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on various food processing machinery to ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in both electrical and mechanical systems, implementing effective solutions swiftly.
• Execute repairs and replace faulty components to minimize equipment downtime.
• Achieve Plant Uptime & Maintenance KPIs through planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Ensure a traceable reduction in Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
• Enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Maintain high Parts Per Million (PPM) output on machinery.
• Minimize non-conformance according to set targets.
• Implement improvement initiatives to control waste, including time, materials, and resources.

Electrical Work:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, controls, and wiring associated with food production equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections of electrical panels, sensors, and other components to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Mechanical Support:

• Maintain and repair mechanical components, including motors, conveyors, pumps, and gearboxes.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to address mechanical challenges and enhance equipment reliability.

Automation and Controls:

• Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) to troubleshoot and improve automation processes.
• Partner with the automation team to implement upgrades and modifications for increased efficiency.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and standards, implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance.
• Remove defective equipment when necessary.
• Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
