Job Title: Firmware Electronics Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Firmware Electronics Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing firmware for our CEM Access Control Hardware portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop firmware for our CEM Access Control Hardware portfolio.
  • Collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Develop technical documentation in-line with industry best practices.
  • Interface with other functions within the business to ensure seamless product delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies in the field of security systems.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development in C/C++ in an ARM RTOS and/or embedded Linux system.
  • Authorization to work in the UK.
  • Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics and Software, or similar degree.
  • Experience of developing within an Agile framework.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Methodical and accurate.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Evidence of mentoring/coaching software team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with multiple processor families.
  • RFID.
  • Hardware debugging tools.
  • Scripting languages.
  • Automated build systems.
  • Using network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark).
  • UDP, TCP.
  • Linux Kernel knowledge.
  • Multi-process and multi-threading.
  • Asynchronous programming.
  • Open-Source Software Integration and Software Security Mechanisms.
