About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to lead our Drama department as the Head of Drama. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting creativity and excellence in Drama education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage the Drama Department: Oversee the delivery of an outstanding Drama curriculum, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education in Drama.
  • Foster a Creative and Inclusive Learning Environment: Support student development by creating a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages creativity and inclusivity.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work with colleagues to design and implement exciting Drama lessons that meet the needs of all students.
  • Organize and Direct School Productions: Plan and execute school productions, performances, and events that showcase student talent and creativity.
  • Assess and Monitor Student Progress: Evaluate student progress and provide feedback and support as needed to ensure students reach their full potential.
  • Support Professional Development: Provide guidance and support to Drama teachers to enhance their skills and knowledge in Drama education.
  • Participate in Extracurricular Activities: Engage in extracurricular Drama activities and events that promote student participation and creativity.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Keep accurate records of student achievements and progress to inform teaching and learning.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Hold a recognized teaching qualification.
  • Specialization in Drama: Have a specialization in Drama or a related field.
  • Postgraduate Degree: Possess a postgraduate degree in Drama or Drama Education (desirable).
  • Teaching Experience: Have proven experience teaching Drama, preferably at the secondary level.
  • Leadership and Management Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills to lead and manage the Drama department.
  • Passion for Drama Education: Show a passion for promoting creativity and excellence in Drama education.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues and students.
  • Commitment to Professional Development: Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development in Drama education.
