Position Overview
Rochdale Council is excited to announce a vacancy for a Lead Financial Analyst within the Finance Support Services team, part of the Corporate Services Directorate.
This role presents an opportunity to significantly impact the Borough by directly assisting the Head of Finance (Finance Support Services) and the Heads of Service in ongoing service delivery. This includes providing financial insights into business plans and further developing the Finance Service as a reliable business partner.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering precise and comprehensive financial data to support the Council's essential financial operations, including Budget Preparation, Budget Oversight, and Financial Year-End Processes. Additionally, the role involves aiding in the creation of financial assessments and business models for service revenue and capital initiatives, as well as overseeing and mentoring direct reports while promoting the Council's transition towards enhanced technological solutions. This position is ideal for a seasoned finance professional seeking a dynamic and varied role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering and presenting specialized financial guidance, reports, and insights to support informed decision-making.
- Providing ongoing budget monitoring reports for both Revenue and Capital projects, collaborating with Directorates to identify variances and develop solutions.
- Contributing to the formulation and execution of the Medium Term Financial Strategy.
- Supporting and nurturing direct reports to help them reach their full potential and enhance their contributions.
- Engaging with the Council's transformation initiatives and advocating for increased technological adoption.
- Utilizing commercial and organizational insight to influence stakeholders, ensuring the achievement of the Council's financial goals.
- Establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Acting on behalf of the Head of Finance (FSS) as necessary.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess qualifications from a recognized CCAB professional accountancy body and have substantial financial management experience within a large organization. They should demonstrate the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment, delivering priority tasks promptly and accurately, along with experience in engaging with senior stakeholders.
