Job Title: Mental Health Assistant - SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Graduate to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with behaviour and mental health issues in a specialist school for children with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs based in Kidlington.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in Psychology, Counselling or Criminology, and will be able to bring enthusiasm, passion and experience to the classroom. The successful candidate will be proactive and adaptable, able to use their own initiative and work with challenging behaviour.

The school is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who can provide high-quality support to children with complex needs, and who is open-minded and up for a challenge. The children have varying needs, although SEMH is the main provision.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists, and will be mentored and have the opportunity to shadow sessions and learn from them.

This is a fantastic opportunity for any Psychology Graduate to gain invaluable experience working with Special Needs and Mental Health issues, and to develop their skills and knowledge in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualised plans
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Psychology, Counselling or Criminology
  • Experience working with children with complex needs
  • Ability to work with challenging behaviour
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
