Job Title: Application Architect

We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to join our team at Discover Financial Services, Inc. This role will be responsible for designing and implementing application architecture that balances business and customer needs with technical non-functional requirements for resiliency, security, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage deep understanding of business processes and technical building blocks to design application architecture.
  • Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
  • Develop product vision and strategy and align product vision with technology strategy.
  • Independently oversee the design process for an application.
  • Coach other architects to develop product quality strategy including nonfunctional requirements, such as reliability, availability, and security.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of business processes and technical building blocks.
  • Train others in solution design patterns.
  • Coach internal technology communities and are actively engaged in understanding and researching modern technologies and patterns.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Software Development, Software Engineering, Technical Architecture, or related field.
  • Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus architecture scale.
