About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Media Relations Manager to join our Corporate Affairs team at Arriva UK Trains Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective media relations strategies to enhance our reputation and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with national and regional media outlets, securing press coverage and managing media inquiries.
  • Corporate Communications: Create and disseminate compelling editorial articles, press releases, and other communications materials to showcase our company's story and achievements.
  • Awards and Recognition: Identify and apply for industry awards and recognition programs, working closely with internal teams to ensure successful submissions.
  • Crisis Management: Develop and maintain our crisis management plan, ensuring it is up-to-date and effective in managing potential crises.
  • Social Media: Lead the strategic management and implementation of our social media strategy across all channels, setting the tone and standards for our online presence.
  • Customer Relations: Manage a dotted line relationship with customer relations colleagues, delivering social customer service and ensuring seamless communication with our customers.

Requirements
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into engaging messaging.
  • Media Relations Experience: Significant experience working in a busy press office or PR team, with a strong understanding of national and regional media.
  • Crisis Management: Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle reactive issues, with experience of conducting creative, proactive media campaigns.
  • Social Media: Understanding of the development of social media and digital content in support of media relations campaigns.
  • Specialist Media Distribution: Knowledge of specialist media distribution, monitoring, measurement, and evaluation mechanisms.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to form strong relationships with journalists and staff across our business.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work well with senior colleagues at the highest levels, including the Managing Director, and be flexible on other tasks as required.
