About the Role

The Family Liaison will provide critical support to our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and Assistant Head (Pastoral & DSL) by overseeing and coordinating the provision of support for students with special educational needs (SEN). This role involves administrative duties such as record-keeping, scheduling meetings with parents, professionals, and external agencies. Additionally, the Family Liaison may directly support individual students with SEN, manage learning resources, observe and report on student progress, facilitate communication between teachers, parents, and external specialists, and engage in training to stay updated on best practices for supporting students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the SENCO to ensure outstanding outcomes for students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies aimed at raising the achievement of students with special educational needs.
  • Actively promote and demonstrate creativity and innovation when searching out new strategies to support students with special educational needs.
  • Maintain high-quality school documentation pertaining to the learning support needs of all students.
  • Attend meetings with external agencies and ensure documents are personalized, robust, and include SMART targets aimed at raising the achievement of individual students.

Requirements

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and grade C or above in English or equivalent.
