Position: Electrical Fitter

The Electrical Fitter will report to the Lead Operational Engineer and will be part of the UK Power Networks Services team. This is a permanent role.

Compensation includes a salary of £43,898 along with a company vehicle, benefits, and a performance-related bonus of 3%.

JOB PURPOSE:

The primary responsibility of the Electrical Fitter is to maintain high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems and the distribution network, including up to 11KV systems, with opportunities to advance skills for working on 33KV networks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations relevant to the role
  • Conduct risk assessments and uphold safe working practices
  • Maintain electrical equipment on the LV and 11KV networks
  • Perform thorough inspections of substations
  • Oversee the installation and construction of new substations, including associated high voltage switchgear and transformers
  • Report any hazards or defects through the appropriate channels
  • Ensure that work quality adheres to current policies and procedures
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the company positively
  • Work independently or collaboratively as part of a team

ROLE CONTEXT:

This position is classified as a Specified Role and will require pre-appointment drug screening in line with company policy.

The Electrical Fitter will work alongside a team of technicians and engineers, reporting to the Maintenance Manager, with support from experienced Lead and Operational Engineers.

Work will primarily occur within the UK Power Networks Services area, with responsibilities extending to customer-owned sites on a contractual basis. Travel across the UK may be necessary.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ONC in electrical power or equivalent qualifications
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship in power distribution or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the electrical distribution network
  • Experience in the maintenance and testing of HV and LV assets
  • Possession of a valid driving license

For certain roles involving work at height or the use of fall arrest devices, there is a maximum weight limit due to safety equipment constraints.
