Job Title: Water Design Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Design Manager to join our Utilities team in Falmer, Brighton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing engineering design delivery for assigned water projects on our new 7-year framework with Southern Water.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert engineering support to the design and construction of the Southern Water portfolio of non-infrastructure, water and wastewater projects.
  • Spearhead and optimize the engineering assurance process for designs prepared by partner at outline design and Capital Delivery partners at tender and construction design.
  • Ensure that the Engineering design team, design consultants, and construction partners develop technically and economically proficient engineering solutions.
  • Implement design quality procedures to ensure right-first-time philosophy adherence.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance affordability and value throughout the design process.
  • Ensure compliance with Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations, managing design-related health and safety risks.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer status with a degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience of managing and driving a multi-discipline technical engineering team with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.
  • Significant knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Full valid UK driving license.
