About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Macstaff, a leading contractor in the heritage construction and restoration sector. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing the commercial aspects of our projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Management: Manage all commercial aspects of projects, including cost control, risk management, and value engineering.
  • Cost Control: Develop and implement cost control strategies to ensure that projects are delivered within budget.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with site teams, contracts managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and present financial reports, including job cost analysis, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Subcontract Management: Organize, order, and manage subcontract orders, applications, and enquiries.
  • Client Liaison: Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and develop feasibility studies.
  • Risk Management: Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: HNC in Construction or relevant degree-level qualification.
  • Experience: Proven experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong numeracy and financial management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to learn construction management IT packages.
  • Knowledge: Detailed knowledge of private residential building contracting, awareness of property taxation matters and contractual law, and a good technical understanding of traditional and modern building methods and products.

  • Competitive Salary: £50K-£70K range DOE + package.
