About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Practitioner to join our team at Turning Point Scotland, where no two days are the same. As a key member of our service delivery team, you will be responsible for providing advanced level social care support to individuals who use drugs, with a focus on harm reduction and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out initial assessments and provide ongoing keyworker support to individuals, building trusting relationships and communicating effectively.
  • Work in a groupwork setting and/or provide Assertive Outreach to individuals' homes, GP practices, and across multiple community settings in the North East of Edinburgh.
  • Offer harm reduction advice and interventions to vulnerable individuals who use drugs, including those with multiple non-fatal overdoses and those not currently engaged with treatment and support services.
  • Provide line management support to the staff team and work closely with the Service Manager and Service Coordinator to direct and manage the day-to-day support within the Edinburgh Service.
  • Be creative in ways of engaging people, including home visits, and provide support in the community until individuals are able to engage in more structured support within the hub.

Our North East Recovery Hub offers a full range of services, including a multi-disciplinary team comprising of Voluntary Sector, NHS, and social work staff. We are based in Leith and work across our satellite location in Craigmillar.

Requirements

  • Experience of working with vulnerable people and an understanding of alcohol and other drugs-related harm.
  • Knowledge and experience of drug and alcohol-related harm.
  • IT skills are required for all our vacancies.
  • Where applicable, successful candidates will be required to register with the SSSC within 6 months of start date.
