Senior SQL Database Administrator

Telefónica Tech, a leading NextGen Tech solutions provider, is seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, and performance of our SQL Server databases.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide ongoing delivery and support for our clients worldwide, communicating regularly with technical, applications, and operational colleagues.
  • Identify SQL database/instance performance optimisations and implement solutions to improve database performance.
  • Perform SQL Server patching and support customer release deployment activities and upgrades.
  • Write database and client documentation, including procedures and definitions for customer environment specifics.
  • Ensure that database maintenance procedures are functioning correctly and carry out capacity planning and provisioning of SQL Server instances or databases.
  • Manage the HA and DR aspects of SQL Server and act as level 3 support for the DBA team, available for 24x7 coverage.

Requirements:
  • Experience working in SQL Server Production Environments and managing critical situations.
  • Experience working with SQL Server FCI & AlwaysON, troubleshooting & configuration.
  • Experience and troubleshooting backups, restore, and database maintenance activities.
  • Understanding query tuning concepts and identifying performance bottlenecks.
  • Understanding the SQL Server setup, storage, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of the SQL Server data structures and architecture.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and issues in SQL Server environments and help plan tasks for less experienced team members.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working with Azure SQL Databases and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
  • Basic concepts of Azure DevOps.
  • Experience of other databases including but not limited to CosmosDB, Postgres, MySQL.
  • Experience of SQL Server Migrations to the public cloud.
