The Surgical Specialist Pharmacist will play a crucial role in managing the services at Weston General Hospital, working closely with senior pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff to promote safe and effective use of medicines within the Surgical division.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and developing clinical pharmacy services to the Surgical Division, including pre-op clinics, theatres, and other medical wards at Weston General Hospital.
  • Liaising with senior pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff to promote safe and effective use of medicines within the Surgical division.
  • Providing information and support to the Surgical Division on drug usage and expenditure, working with senior clinicians to maximise clinical effectiveness of medicines used and minimise cost.
  • Developing a robust medicines-related audit programme with senior clinicians in the directorate.
  • Participating in the training of pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, undergraduate pharmacists, and other pharmacy and NHS staff.
