Job Title: Locum Audiologist

Reporting to: Regional Manager

Rate: Flexible day rates available

Hours: 3-5 working days per week

Job Summary

As a domiciliary audiologist with OutsideClinic, you will play a crucial role in providing audiological testing services to patients in their homes and in-store, as well as supporting the NHS. You will be trusted to make autonomous decisions and valued for your professional expertise.

Clinical Responsibilities

  1. Manage a daily schedule of adults with hearing loss.
  2. Perform Pure Tone Audiometry, including masking as required.
  3. Conduct tests for non-organic hearing loss.
  4. Test for Noise Induced Hearing Loss.
  5. Take aural impressions and select appropriate ear moulds.
  6. Select and program/fitting of appropriate hearing instruments.
  7. Provide a full, structured, patient-centric aftercare programme to ensure maximum satisfaction.
  8. Offer appropriate support for individuals with hearing loss.
  9. Use appropriate outcome measures, both subjective and objective, to ensure hearing instruments provide maximum benefit and apply evidence-based practice to support this.
  10. Utilize Real Ear Measurement equipment to validate and verify hearing instrument fittings.
  11. Commit to lifelong learning to keep up to date with the latest developments in Audiology.
  12. Be responsible for daily maintenance of test equipment and arrange calibration as required.
  13. Provide ear care and wax removal where needed (appropriate training will be provided).
  14. Follow best practice principles regarding infection control in the workplace.

Professional Responsibilities

  1. Meet the appropriate level of expertise to register with the HCPC as a Hearing Aid Dispenser (appropriate training will be provided as needed).
  2. Demonstrate the ability to reflect on own practice with peers and management and identify strengths and development needs.
  3. Be responsible for own professional actions and recognize professional boundaries and when to seek advice from others.
  4. Contribute as part of a clinical team and discuss client needs with others.
  5. Attend appropriate supervision and training to maintain skills and knowledge and expand Scope of Practice while ensuring compliance with HCPC CPD requirements.
  6. Maintain own CPD records in a form acceptable to the HCPC.
  7. Understand the principles of clinical governance and its application to professional practice in Audiology.
  8. Ensure staff are aware of and comply with all Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  9. Ensure staff are aware of and comply with Health and Safety and Risk Management Policies and Procedures.

Your Skills & Experience

  1. Effective and flexible communicator to multiple parties.
  2. Proficient in using digital systems with attention to detail.
  3. Confident driver with at least two years of driving experience and ability to find multiple locations.
  4. Ability to work calmly under pressure.
  5. Pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  6. Organized and able to multitask.
  7. Work within own clinical knowledge and limitations.
