As a Safeguarding Advisor, your role will encompass two primary responsibilities: engaging stakeholders and managing safeguarding cases. You will serve as the primary contact for safeguarding issues, processes, and practices across Cancer Research UK. Your stakeholder engagement will involve working across the organization to promote safeguarding awareness, develop and deliver training, and ensure effective communication and reporting.
This position offers a dynamic work environment where you will support safeguarding initiatives across a diverse network, including numerous shops, events, paid staff, volunteers, and research institutions. Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for safeguarding issues, processes, and practices within Cancer Research UK.
- Proactively engage with stakeholders to enhance understanding of safeguarding practices and ensure their integration into all organizational activities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather insights on safeguarding matters across the organization.
- Design and deliver safeguarding training, communications, and reporting mechanisms.
- Contribute to the development and execution of our Safeguarding Strategy and operational framework to ensure effective safeguarding practices.
- Manage tasks assigned from the annual Safeguarding Operating Plan, including case management and risk assessment.
- Identify and implement improvements to our safeguarding practices.
- Provide expert guidance on safeguarding case management to ensure appropriate resolutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in safeguarding with a proven track record in managing adult safeguarding cases.
- Experience in delivering training sessions and developing training materials in various contexts.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the capacity to engage effectively at all levels.
- Knowledge of current UK safeguarding laws and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Excellent planning and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
