About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Engineer to join our Research, Technology and Innovation business at Thales UK. As a Research Engineer, you will play a key role in investigating and developing new technologies and concepts across a wide range of Thales's application areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out fundamental feasibility studies, state-of-the-art surveys and modelling/simulation.
  • Develop proof of concept demonstrators using appropriate software and hardware implementations.
  • Work within a research team to invent and explore new concepts and technologies and demonstrate their applicability to the Thales businesses.
Requirements
  • 5-8 years of experience in a research or advanced development environment role.
  • Good awareness of the Thales businesses, structure, governance and processes.
  • Proficient in the use of standard PC-based office tools, including Microsoft tools such as Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project and Visio.
  • Typically an honours degree (minimum 2.1), a master's degree, or a PhD in a relevant discipline such as Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Cybernetics, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics, Electronics and Computing, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering or Telecommunication.
