SEN Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a post-16 special school in Edgware, London. As a key member of our support staff, you will work closely with young adults aged 16+ who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing individualized support to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to post-16 students with SEN
  • Assist in implementing personalized learning and care plans to meet each student's unique needs
  • Help students develop essential life skills and academic abilities to support their transition into adulthood
  • Support students with ASD, learning difficulties, and other complex needs, ensuring they are fully engaged in their learning
  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCo to ensure students' progress is monitored and support plans are adjusted as necessary
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment where students feel supported and encouraged
Requirements:
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, particularly in a post-16 or special school setting
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with complex needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
  • A proactive approach to working with young adults, ensuring their individual needs are met
